'Satisfaction'
'All glory be to thee, Almighty God... for that thou... didst give thine only Son Jesus Christ to suffer death upon the Cross for our redemption; who made there... a full, perfect, and sufficient sacrifice, oblation, and satisfaction, for the sins of the whole world.' The historic Anglican Eucharistic Prayer is entirely biblical and patristic in soteriology, in line with all the ancient Eucharistic liturgies of the Western Church. A favourite subject - the use of the term 'satisfaction' for Our Lord's redemptive work as found in the Holy Mass. It is not merely Anselmian, medieval, or scholastic, but patristic and subapostolic.
